- 1½ lbs ground venison (lean deer meat)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (15 oz) can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 cup low-sodium beef broth or water

- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
- ½ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Heat it up!
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. - Build your flavor base.
Add diced onions and sauté for 3–4 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. - Brown the venison.
Add ground deer meat to the pan and cook until no longer pink, about 6–8 minutes. Break it apart with a spatula. - Load the slow cooker.
Transfer the cooked meat mixture into your slow cooker. - Add the good stuff.
Stir in beans, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and broth. - Season it right.
Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Give everything a good stir. - Let it simmer low and slow.
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours. - Serve it hot!
