Description

These gooey, sweet Rice Krispie treats bring back all the nostalgic feels with every crunchy bite. Perfect for a quick dessert fix or a fun afternoon activity, they’ll satisfy both kids and adults in under 15 minutes!

Ingredients

Scale

Basic Mixture

6 cups crisped rice cereal

4 cups mini marshmallows (plus a handful for topping if desired)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

Pinch of salt (optional)

Optional Add-Ins

¼ cup sprinkles

¼ cup chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, or dried fruit

Instructions

Melt the Butter:

In a large saucepan over low heat, warm the butter until fully liquefied, stirring occasionally to avoid browning.

Add Marshmallows:

Gradually stir in the mini marshmallows. Continue stirring until everything melts into a smooth, gooey mixture. If using salt, sprinkle it in now.

Combine with Cereal:

Remove the pan from heat. Gently fold the crisped rice cereal into the marshmallow mixture until every piece is coated. If you’re feeling adventurous, toss in any optional add-ins, like sprinkles or chocolate chips.

Press Into a Dish:

Lightly coat a 9×13-inch dish with butter or cooking spray. Spoon the mixture in and press it down evenly. For an extra treat, press a few additional marshmallows or sprinkles on top.

Cool and Slice:

Allow the treats to cool for about 30 minutes. Once set, cut into squares or bars. Enjoy immediately or store in an airtight container for up to three days.

Notes

Tip for Less Stickiness: Spraying your spatula or hands with a bit of cooking spray helps to smoothly press the mixture into the pan.

Flavor Swaps: Stir in a spoonful of peanut butter or drizzle melted chocolate on top for an indulgent twist.

Storage: Keep leftovers sealed tightly at room temperature to maintain freshness.
